“When we can accept grace, the possibilities are endless!”
Christian Counselling BC from a Practising Christian – Cyndy Ramsay
As a Christian who has lived through the loss of a beloved parent and a family member’s long-term journey through addiction, I understand what it’s like to question God’s plans and to yearn for an approach that included my faith. That’s why I invite you to bring your belief into our sessions.
So often we compartmentalize our lives.
You know… that was my personal experience. I went to counselling but when the counsellor wasn’t a Christian themselves, they allowed me to speak about my spiritual beliefs, and my faith beliefs, but they weren’t aware of or versed in using biblical scripture, so I couldn’t talk that same language with them.
Christian Counselling BC Providing You With a Safe Space
There can also be a stigma that Christian people are supposed to be perfect. So, then you may not feel comfortable to bring up this awful, sticky, messy stuff that’s going on because of the thinking that “they can’t handle it.” So there’s that fear of judgment on both sides.
Even in counselling groups, people often don’t bring up whatever their faith beliefs are. Sometimes we wonder “what if I say that in this group? Are people going to judge me for my spiritual beliefs?” So we compartmentalize our lives. And yet if a person has a faith belief and they’re leaving it at the door, they’re leaving out a huge support for themselves.
That’s why here at Grace Extended, I offer a place where everybody’s welcome.
Extending Grace Through Christian Counselling BC
I want you to know you’re welcome, and encouraged, to bring your faith in with you. If you identify as a Christian, know that I can provide evidence-based therapeutic modalities AND I can speak with you from a biblical foundation. If you want to pray in a session, I can pray with you. Some people find great comfort in prayer but may feel uncomfortable to pray in a counselling session. I’m not uncomfortable with prayer if that’s what you want to do.
So, I invite you to see if we are a good fit by booking an initial 15-minute obligation-free and fully complimentary consultation.
