Evidence-Based Counselling Strategies

By leaning on evidence-based therapies and blending elements of life coaching strategies and learned experiences, Cyndy will tailor her counselling to help you gain insights for your personal growth and find the right next step to take.

No Judgement

Cyndy has overcome so much inner turmoil in her life as a Christian supporting a loved one through addiction.  She understands the complexities of trying to hide the negatives from those around her.  She also knows how it feels to have that someone you can be completely open with because you know they won’t judge you as you are working through your mental and emotional struggles.

Flexible Counselling Support

While Cyndy is based in Oliver BC, with the wonderful support of online technology, you will be able to access holistic counselling from anywhere you feel comfortable.  This includes virtual counselling with an internet connection or phone counselling if the internet isn’t available.  So all you need to do is find your “safe space”, get comfortable, and prepare to move towards relief and happiness.

Why Choose Cyndy Ramsay for Your Counselling Needs?

You want to feel better and we want to help you find your authentic happiness…

Cyndy’s desire to help others through counselling came through real life and personal experiences.  While struggling to support a loved one with substance abuse issues, Cyndy started to reach out for support from a caring counsellor.  This was the first step towards finding her purpose.

After this, Cyndy sought further support from other counsellors, specifically around substance affected family counselling, Alanon, her local Pastor and Church group, and by doing mental wellness programs.

  • and so much more…

Grief and Loss Counsellor British Columbia

Counselling from the heart.  Your experience is authentically yours.  Whether you are trying to recover from the loss of a loved one or dealing with difficult life transitions, I can support you as you move forward.

So many situations in life contain some aspect of grief that is often felt but not clearly identified.  Some areas you may be experiencing grief include:

  • Loss of a parent or child
  • Saying goodbye to a favourite pet
  • Child leaving home
  • Transitioning into retirement
  • Insecurity of having to repeatedly move home
  • Letting go of a long-term addiction

Christian Counsellor British Columbia

I encourage you to bring in your faith and spiritual beliefs so we can explore ways to support your mental and behavioral growth in ways that sit well with your soul.

You may have a certain faith and spiritual belief.  It is so important that the counselling approach match and support those beliefs. This way you can integrate solutions that are in alignment with your soul.

Here at Grace Extended, we can:

  • Pray with you
  • Talk to scripture
  • Provide a non-judgemental therapy-based Christian ear to listen
  • Support you from a biblical background

More About My Counselling BC Services…

At Grace Extended my first goal is to make sure you feel listened to and heard.  At this time, all sessions are conducted virtually.

It is understandable that there may be some feelings of resistance to virtual counselling, especially with so much screen time in our lives already.  However, I have found that there are also benefits such as:

  • Attending sessions in your own private space (which can add to your sense of safety)
  • You will have access to your own personal resources to ground you (a comfortable blanket, a cup of tea)
  • If you’ve had an emotional session, you don’t have to “pull yourself together” to leave the office (no public embarrassment)
  • You’re not limited to a counsellor in your town

All new clients are invited to book a complimentary 15-minute discovery session (obligation-free).  This will allow us to meet one another and see if we’ll be a good fit to work together.

As humans, we are hard-wired for connection.  We are profoundly shaped by our social environment and our well-being is closely tied to our connections with others.

This is why the connection we are able to build between therapist/client is so important, and why our work together will include finding ways for you to foster more meaningful connections with those around you

What You Can Expect From My Counselling Practice

My holistic approach means that we will pull from a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities instead of being restricted by one specific type of therapy.  This means that we have the flexibility to stay fully “client-centered”, supporting you in what you need most.

For example, we can:

  • explore the connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors,
  • identify and untwist unhealthy thinking patterns (so you can learn to make the shifts necessary to show up in the world the way you want to)
  • learn to regulate your nervous system (so you can tolerate the distresses of life while staying within your “window of tolerance”)
  • explore your problem as something separate from you, so you can address it in a way that detaches it from your core identity (“you are not your problem; the problem is the problem”)
  • learn how trauma and stress can manifest as physical symptoms within your body, and ways to manage them

Frequently Asked Questions

If you don’t find the answer to your question below, please contact me directly by email and I will get back you to within 1 business day

How long are the counselling sessions?

Counselling sessions last 50-60 minutes.  We can accommodate a longer session if you feel you would like more time to talk and process (fees adjusted per half hour).  Please just let us know prior to your session so we can allow extra time.

How much are the counselling fees?

Counselling sessions are offered at $150 per 50 minutes.

Payment is expected by e-transfer to cyndy@graceextended.ca at the time of each session and a receipt will be issued after funds have been received.

If your therapy is covered by an insurance policy, you are responsible to pay the fee and then seek reimbursement from the insurance company or EAP (Employee Assistance Program).

What if I can't make it to my counselling appointment?

Your counselling appointment time is reserved just for you.  A late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in the therapist’s schedule that prevents her from providing support for other clients in need.  For this reason, we require 48 hours notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment in order to accommodate the waitlist.

Clients who provide less than 48 hours notice may be charged a 50% cancellation fee.

Clients who miss their appointment without notice may be responsible for a 100% no-show fee.

Please note that insurance companies do not reimburse for missed sessions.

Are sessions covered by my benefits?

This depends on your insurance policy.  Please check the wording.   We will issue you with a receipt and you can submit this to your provider.

Do you offer payment options for counselling sessions?

I offer a limited number of slots for clients who are struggling financially to afford therapy.  Please get in touch today for a complimentary consultation to see how I can help you prioritise your wellbeing and make therapy accessible for you.

What if I'm in crisis now?

CRISIS RESPONSE SUPPORT: Grace Extended does not provide crisis response support. If you or someone you know is at imminent risk of suicide, call 911 or attend the closest hospital.

In BC, if the risk is not imminent, call the BC Suicide Line at 1-800-784-2433 or the Mental Health Support Line at 310-6789.

After many years of being a mother who gave everything for her husband and children, Monique found herself feeling miserable, run down and depressed for the first time in her life.  She had left behind all the things that made her feel happy.

Monique sought out support to help find out why she was feeling so sad when she had so much to be grateful for.  Using finely tuned listening skills and asking the right questions, we explored how Monique could increase her sense of self-worth and begin moving towards more positive behaviours for the future.  She started exercising again, seeing family and friends she had been “hiding from”, and she started saying no to the things that didn’t make her feel good.

Monique is now feeling happier than she has in years and is starting new adventures.  Plus, this has made her enjoy being a part of her family again.

Monique
